Music at St Luke's

At St Luke's we enjoy the wonderful range of Christian music that is available in the 21st century. We use a variety of music in our worship - from ancient chants and traditional hymns to modern compositions.

We are fortunate to have a pipe organ built by the Bishop of London in 1878. It is capably played by our Director of Music - Ian Matheson. The organ is used to accompany congregational singing and the choir. Ian usually also plays before and after the Sunday service.

There has been a choir at St Luke's since the days of the Churchroom (apart from the occasional recess). The choir's primary role is to lead the congregational singing and the choir sings whilst members of the congregation take communion. There are also opportunities during the year for the choir to perform at special events. If you are interested in joining the choir click here.

On a typical Sunday you will also hear the sound of a rock band emanating from the church. At full strength the band includes acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitar, drums, keyboards and vocals. Under the leadership of Roger Falloon the band accompanies congregational singing of contemporary songs. If you are interested in joining the band click here.
