St Luke’s, Wadestown

Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa. Nau mai, haere mai.

Welcome to the Anglican parish of St Luke’s in Wadestown, Wellington – the church on the hill.

Our church and its hall are at the heart of the Wadestown, Wilton and Crofton Downs communities. We are on the corner of Wadestown Road and Pitt Street.

St Luke’s is a friendly, approachable, caring and inclusive community welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds.

Come and visit us – whether it be to take part in our weekly church services, attend an event, enjoy our heritage architecture or simply to take some time out to sit quietly in our contemplative spaces.

He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata he tangata he tangata!

What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people!

We look forward to seeing you soon at St Luke’s Wadestown.

Rev John Loong, Vicar of Wadestown

The Big Weekend, Saturday-Sunday, 27-28 July

We had an amazing fun-filled two days celebrating the strengthening and refurbishment of St Luke’s with an open home on Saturday and a Service of Thanksgiving on Sunday with the Assistant Bishop of Wellington, Anashuya Fletcher.

Thank you to all who supported the parish, generously gave koha and enjoyed (and cooked for) the lovely afternoon and morning teas. AND were impressed our even more lovely church. We are so proud that this project is completed, and carried out so well by all our contractors.

We thank Quayle Construction Ltd, Dunning Thorndon Consultants Ltd, Crispin Kay Architect, Salty Electrical, Lightplan Ltd, Energy Efficiency Products Ltd, Devon + Patterson Flooring, South Island Organ Company, James Henry Ltd, Evenflooring, and Adroite Communications.

And our heartfelt thanks to our funders: a grant from the David Luke Heritage Bequest (administered by Heritage New Zealand), Lotteries Environment and Heritage Committee, a loan from the Diocese of Wellington, and individual donations. St Luke’s has contributed a significant sum from our own reserves.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Enjoy these photos from the open house on Saturday. We will post more photos in a day or two.
