Meet our vicar

Kia ora and lei hou (你好).

St Luke’s Parish has a special place in my heart. It was here that I started church ministry training when I was a fledgling deacon before I was ordained into the Anglican priesthood in 2001.

After several years serving in Singapore with the Diocese of Singapore and other independent churches, I happily returned in 2019 to Wellington to lead St Luke’s Parish.

Born in Hong Kong, my family moved to Wellington where I attended primary school and Wellington College (where I played a lot of basketball!). I have many good memories of growing up in the capital city.

I studied at Victoria University of Wellington for BCA (Hons) and MBA degrees, and subsequently completed my Graduate Diploma in Theology at Laidlaw College, Christchurch.

Before I was ordained, I worked for an international IT firm and a local software development company, as well as running my own business.

I’m really into music and I enjoy discovering new songs from across a wide range of genres. I also enjoy singing and playing on my guitar.

It is wonderful that my wife, Dara Choo, is with me at St Luke’s and can join in with the church’s ministry. We have four grownup children – Matthias, Nathanael, Ian and Joan.
